iPhone SE, latest iPhone from Apple is planned to be made available in India on 8 April 2016 at a price rate of Rs.39,000. Recently, the four-inch device was unveiled by the firm, headquartered in California. It becomes the most affordable iPhone in the country, with a starting price of $399 in the US market.

The iPhone SE is powered by A9 chipset. This chipset is used in top-end iPhone 6s devices. The phone would be made available in colors like silver, space grey, rose gold and gold metallic finishes in 64GB and 16GB, at beginning price of Rs.39,000.

In separate releases, Redington and Beetel Teletech announced about the commencement of distribution of iPhone SE from 8 April all through 3,500 and 3,000 outlets, respectively. From 29 March 2016, pre-orders for the handset are expected to begin, said Beetel Teletech.

Philip Schiller, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing from Apple, said in a statement that, “iPhone SE is packed with a stunning 4-inch Retina display, advanced 64-bit A9 chip with M9 motion co-processor, longer battery life, 12-megapixel iSight camera with True Tone flash, Live Photos, 4K video, faster LTE and Wi-Fi,”

Gartner Research Director Anshul Gupta said that the new device would help Apple to broaden their market segment.

“Users will be able to buy a phone with latest features which is very different from buying an older version at lower price. I think this will appeal more people to buy an Apple phone who otherwise couldn’t afford their flagship phone. This will make market more competitive,” Gupta added.

The starting price at which iPhone 5s is available is Rs 18,000. The starting prices for iPhone 6, iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are nearly Rs 32,000, Rs 40,000 and Rs 50,000, respectively.
