UberEats Now Available In Richmond

On-demand ride service the Uber has jumped into meal delivery business in the Richmond area, launching UberEats for folks who want take-out but do not want to go get it.

To offer the meal delivery service, Uber has partnered with the number of local restaurants, charging a flat $4.99 booking or the delivery fee.

The service became available in the Richmond area on Thursday, and delivery is available in the selected areas.

The UberEats enters Richmond market as the other online meal ordering and delivery platforms are available. To use the UberEats service, customers need to download the Uber mobile app or go to the www.ubereats.com website. The app and website have a list of restaurants partnering with the meal delivery service.

The customers can place orders and pay from the app or website.

Some restaurants listed have images of the dishes available for the delivery. The restaurants listed with Uber include Brewer’s Café, Shawarma Shack, Deep Run Roadhouse, Strawberry Street Café, Perly’s, Olio, The Black Sheep, Sweet Teas Southern Cuisine and Sally Bell’s Kitchen.

The UberEats app also lists the estimated delivery time based on the customer’s location, which the Uber mobile app knows automatically based on the customer’s smart phone GPS signal or from the address typed on the web form.

Customers also may pay a “busy fee” if they order during a particularly busy time when the demand for service is high. The fee will be added before the customer pay the bill.

UberEats also said that prices and offers on its website and app may differ from the prices and offers in restaurant.

According to UberEats, Its is available in dozens of cities all across the country. The service has been available in the Washington area since March 2016 and recently expanded to cover more of the Northern Virginia.

According to the UberEats website, meals are delivered by the Uber couriers via vehicles, bikes or on foot.
