Boishaki or Vaishaki is a historical and religious festival of Hindus and Sikhs. Vaishaki is additionally a spring harvest festival for Sikhs. The festival marks the sacredness of rivers in Hindu culture. Regionally, the festival may be known by many names, but is celebrated in broadly similar ways.

On Vaisakhi or Boishaki, Gurdwaras are decorated and hold kirtans, Sikhs visit and take bathe in lakes or rivers before visiting the local Gurdwaras, community fairs and also nagar kirtan processions are held, people gather, socialize and share different kinds of festive foods.

For Hindus, Vaishaki is a traditional solar new year, a harvest festival, and also an occasion to bathe in sacred rivers such as Ganges, Jhelum and Kaveri. They visit temples, meet friends and also party over festive foods. Vaishaki in Hinduism is known by various regional names like Pohela Boishakh in West Bengal, Bohag Bihu in Assam, Vishu in Kerala and Puthandu in Tamil Nadu.

The scheduled timings for the event are 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. In Mela you can find Bangladeshi, Pakistani and Indian stalls for clothing, jewelry, beauty store, food and many more. Fashion show is also a part of the Mela, by which you can get to know about the latest trends in fashion.
