Homebound, a film directed by Neeraj Ghaywan and starring Ishaan Khatter, Janhvi Kapoor, and Vishal Jethwa, has made it to the shortlist for the 98th Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category. Karan Johar shared an emotional message following the announcement. He began his post by saying, "I can hardly express how proud, excited, and thrilled I am about the journey of HOMEBOUND... every one of us at @dharmamovies feels honored to have this significant film in our collection ... (sic)." Expressing gratitude to the film's director Neeraj Ghaywan, Karan continued, "Thank you @neeraj.ghaywan for bringing so many of our dreams to life... from Cannes to being nominated for the Oscars, this has been an incredible journey! Much love to the whole cast, crew, and all the teams involved in this very special film!!!!!!!!! Onwards and upwards........ HOMEBOUND is now available for streaming on @netflix_in."

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has revealed its shortlist for the 98th Academy Awards, highlighting selected entries in 12 categories. These categories include Animated Short Film, Casting, Cinematography, Documentary Feature and Short Film, International Feature Film, Live Action Short Film, Makeup and Hairstyling, Original Score, Original Song, Sound, and Visual Effects. Homebound is competing for a spot in the Best International Feature Film category, standing alongside a varied list of entries from around the world. Other films selected include Argentina's Belen, Brazil's The Secret Agent, France's It Was Just an Accident, Germany's Sound of Falling, Iraq's The President's Cake, Japan's Kokuho, Jordan's All That's Left of You, Norway's Sentimental Value, Palestine's Palestine 36, South Korea's No Other Choice, Spain's Sirat, Switzerland's Late Shift, Taiwan's Left-Handed Girl, and Tunisia's The Voice of Hind Rajab. The official list of nominees for the Oscars will be announced on January 22, 2026. The 98th Academy Awards ceremony will take place on March 15, 2026.
