A pilot of a small plane escaped unhurt when the small plane he was flying crashed at Leesburg airport. The incident took place on Tuesday around 11:30 a.m., according to Virginia State Police.
Robert L. Bailey Jr., a resident of Fairfax Station, was approching the Leesburg Executive Airport for landing the Cessna aircraft.
But a strong wind forced the single-engine aircraft to veer off the runway and the plane overturned.
The 52-year-old pilot, who was alone in the plane, escaped unhurt from the mishap. He had taken off from Manassas.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board were informed about the incident.
